Like many Tuscan families of feudal origin, the Ricasoli, who came from the Valdarno and established themselves in the Chianti region through the branch to which Baron Bettino Ricasoli, the “Iron Baron,” belonged, owned a palace and an estate in Terranuova with around twenty farms. These were connected to their holdings on the hills of Montevarchi and on the slopes of Pratomagno, within the municipality of Loro.
The Terranuova palace and lands had once belonged to the Concini family and entered the Ricasoli estate as part of the dowry of Bartolomeo Concini’s daughter, who married Bindaccio Ricasoli. Later, through another marriage, the property passed to the family of the Marquis Canevaro.
