The “Porta San Giorgio,” also known as “Porta Ciuffenna” and later “Porta delle Monache,” after the nearby Benedictine nunnery built in the early seventeenth century, opened on the southern side. From here started the road that, after crossing the Ciuffenna at Tassinaia, divided into three routes: to the left toward the monastery of San Giorgio, straight ahead toward Tasso, and to the right toward Valvigna, Castiglion Ubertini, and beyond.
